1- Getting the appropriate tourism license:
The very first step is to get the appropriate license for your travel business. There are three types of licenses for tourism activities.
1- Inbound Travel Operation Activity License
This type of license allows your agency to organize inbound touristic trips, meaning that you can organize trips inside the country.
2- Outbound Travel Operation Activity License
This type of license allows your agency to organize outbound touristic trips which means you can organize trips inside and outside the country too.
3- Travel Agency Activity License
This type of license allows you to provide different travel services such as selling airline tickets outside the country, providing visa support, providing touristic accommodation and transportation services.
2- Having the required budget
To set up a travel and tourism agency, you will need to have a certain budget. For example, to obtain your travel business license, you will need to submit 100,000 Dirhams to the department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), that is in case of an inbound or a travel agency activity license. In case of an outbound travel agency license, will need to submit 200,000 Dirhams to the DTCM.
3- Other required documents
There are other required documents that you will need to submit to the DTCM when setting up your travel and tourism agency:
An application form
Passport copies of each of the foreign applicants
Manager’s education and experience certificate (minimum 3 years’ experience)
An NOC from the civil aviation authority
Clean criminal record certificate for the owner and manager
30 square meter office space for each activity in addition to 90 square meter office space for all activities
