How to Open a Pharmacy Business in the UAE
Dubai has been an ultimate hub for almost all types of businesses in the past decade. It keeps on attracting investors and business entrepreneurs from all around the world and from different industries. One of the current growing industries in Dubai is the healthcare industry. And that is one of the reasons pharmacy businesses are now encouraged in the city.
If you are considering starting your pharmacy business in Dubai, below are the most important things that you need to know.
License and Registration:
To open your pharmacy in Dubai, you first need to obtain a license and register it. Your license should be issued from Dubai Health Authority (DHA) so you can be able to manufacture or sell any pharmaceutical products.
The registration of your license will be through 2 phases: Initial approval and final approval.
Requirements for Initial Approval:
Submit an application to the Health Regulation Department.
Get an approval from Municipality for commercial use of the premises.
The HRD will review your submitted documents and you should get an initial approval letter for your pharmacy in 10 working days.
Requirements for Final Approval:
An online request should be made.
An on-site assessment will be done by the HRD.
Should you meet the DHA recommendations and requirements, you will receive your pharmacy license from the DHA after 20 working days.
Things to consider before starting your pharmacy business:
The Location
It is of very high importance to consider the location of your pharmacy. The higher the residence the better the location.
The Competitors
You should do an extensive research about other pharmacies in the area where you are considering to set up your pharmacy. You should also know about what products they sell and who are their customers.
Equipment needed for setting up a pharmacy:
General hospital materials
Showcases
Computer
Shelves
Last but not least, it is very important that the size of your pharmacy would be in accordance with the minimum required size by the health surveillance. In addition, your pharmacy should be supervised by a licensed pharmacist who should be always present in the pharmacy.
